Finish the buttons
The cross-hole in the buttons needs to be fairly accurate, so a little fixture is made, strong enough to last 28 holes (should be metal, but beech will do). Pre-drilling (1 mm) is done by hand, in hand, with a tiny, super-cheap electric drill.

The next holes (1.5 are 2.0 mm) are hand-drilled – better take a long time than run the risk of splitting.

At this point, I haven't decided how the ”bearing” for the lever should be made: the classical way with felt, or something else. So I leave the holes at 2 mm, to come back to them later.
